KCSF Scholarship Application 2022: Eligibility Criteria, Date

KCSF is committed to developing strong leaders and networks among many generations as well as making investments in the community’s future. KCSF Scholarship Programs

The KCSF initially aim to provide post-secondary students with scholarships. That base is still there. Through bursaries and proactive programs run by the Student Development Committee and Steering Committee, we have now increased the scope of our community contribution.

KCSF Scholarship Application Eligibility Criteria

Donald Chol Canada Award of Excellence

This scholarship has a four-year term. A total of $30,000 is given out, with $7,500 given out at the start of each academic year. Each year, one Donald Choi Canada Scholarship may be given out.

  • Applicants must be in their first year of post-secondary education and enrolled full-time for the 2022–2023 academic year.
  • For a maximum of four years, the applicant must maintain a minimum grade point average (Le. GPA) of A (equivalent) in order to be eligible for further installments of the scholarship grant.
  • The recipient will lose the award for that year and any following years if the required minimum GPA is not met.

Byung Kuk Kim Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is for four years. A total of $10,000 is given out, with $2,500 given out at the start of each academic year. Each year, one Byung Kuk Kim Memorial Scholarship (BKK) may be given out.

  • Applicants must be in their first year of an engineering degree at a recognized post-secondary institution, enrolled full-time during the academic year 2022-2023.
  • In order to be eligible for future installments of the scholarship award, the recipient must continue in the engineering program and maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of B (or equivalent) for each year that has been completed, up to a total of four years.
  • The recipient will lose the award for that year and any following years if the required minimum GPA is not met.

Nam Soo Kim Family Scholarship

This scholarship is renewable, and $2,500 is given out at the start of every academic year. The beneficiary may be qualified for up to $10,000 over a four-year period. Each year, one Nam Soo Kim Family Scholarship may be given out.

  • Applicants must be in their first year of a Computer Science, Information Technology, or Artificial Intelligence (Al) program at a recognized post-secondary institution and enrolled full-time during the 2022–2023 academic year. Students from the University of Toronto will be given preference (but students from other universities are eligible to apply).
  • For the scholarship to be renewed, the student must continue in the Computer Science, Information Technology, or Artificial Intelligence (Al) program and uphold a minimum grade point average (Le. GPA) of B (equivalent) for each year that has been completed, up to a maximum of four years.
  • The recipient will lose the award for that year and any following years if the required minimum GPA is not met.

Nota: If the prior recipient is eligible for the scholarship’s renewal in a given year, the Nam Soo Kim Family Scholarship will not be presented to a new recipient in that year.
